Mi chiamo Cristiano Parato, sono nato il 22 aprile del 1970 nella piccola città piemontese di Bra. Ho iniziato a suonare il basso elettrico all’età di 14 anni, seguito dal mio insegnante Marco Gallesi, ex bassista degli “Arti e Mestieri”.

La mia passione per la musica mi ha portato ad ascoltare e a suonare tanti generi, ma gli artisti che hanno principalmente segnato il mio percorso musicale sono stati Sting e Jaco Pastorius. Ovviamente lo studio del mio strumento mi ha portato a conoscere ed apprezzare altri grandi bassisti come Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller e Michael Manring.

La composizione e l’arrangiamento mi hanno sempre affascinato, infatti agli inizi degli anni novanta ho affrontato gli argomenti seguendo studi specifici. Seguiranno i miei primi lavori discografici, “La mia vita non è qui” del 1997 e “Anima dentro” del 2004, in cui suono la maggior parte degli strumenti, scrivo musica e testi e canto. Dopo queste importanti esperienze, sono tornato a dedicarmi principalmente allo studio del mio strumento, il basso elettrico.

Ho iniziato a scrivere brani strumentali, e grazie a collaboratori eccezionali quali il sassofonista torinese Diego Mascherpa, e al tastierista Mauro Fede, nel 2008 ho realizzato un sogno, il mio primo CD interamente strumentale dal titolo “Instrumental project ‘70”.

Nel 2009 ho avuto l’onore di collaborare con il leggendario chitarrista americano Scott Henderson, e da questa collaborazione, è nato il mio secondo album strumentale dal titolo “Ostinato Bass”.

In questo CD oltre ai miei “devoti” Mauro Fede e Diego Mascherpa, suona il grande batterista Lele Melotti.

I’m Cristiano Parato, I was born on 22 April 1970 in the small Piedmontese City of Bra. I started to play the bass guitar when I was fourteen, and was taught by Marco Gallesi, ex “Arti & Mestieri”.

My passion for music led me to appreciate various types of music, and I was greatly influenced by Sting and Jaco Pastorius. Naturally studying the bass guitar enabled me to meet and appreciate many other great bassists like Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Michael Manring.

Song writing has always been a great passion of mine and in fact at the beginning of the 90’s, I started to study harmony and other areas related to song writing. After this, I recorded my first two CDs, “La mia vita non è qui”, 1997, “Anima dentro”, 2004, in which I wrote the lyrics, played the majority of instruments, and sang. Following this important step, I dedicated myself to the study of my instrument, the bass guitar, and began to write instrumental music.

Thanks to a great partnership between Turinese saxophonist Diego Mascherpa and keyboard player Mauro Fede, I achieved my dream, and released my first instrumental CD “Instrumental project ‘70” in 2008.

A year later, I had the great honor, to work with the legendary American guitarist, Scott Henderson, resulting in my second CD “Ostinato bass”.

On this CD along with the “devoted” Mauro Fede and Diego Mascherpa, played the exceptional drummer Lele Melotti.
